If you are serious on getting started in affiliate marketing business, then you’ll have to create a website or page. The website need to be in the same niche or category as the advertiser or vendor that you want to promote. Besides that, you’ll need to drive a lot of traffic to your website. After that, you’ll only be able to make some serious income in your affiliate marketing business.

7 Steps To Get Started

If you’re interested to start an affiliate marketing business, then here’s a quick 7 steps guide to getting you started:

Step #1 – Choose a Category / Niche

This is pretty simple to do if you already own an existing website or page with a relevant niche or category. For example, if you currently have a website or blog related to internet business, then you can increase your revenue as an affiliate marketer or also known as publisher. You can start by promoting and selling other people’s product or services that related to your niche.  For internet business niche, you can promote email marketing software (e.g. AWeber / GetResponse), web hosting (e.g BlueHost), and many more.

However, if you don’t have a website or page, what types of products or services are you passion about? What are some things that you are expert than your readers? Choose a category or niche that you have passion about and the rest will be simple for you.

Step #2 – Create a Website or Page

Create a website or page if you don’t have one. You can create website such as product review blog, price comparison website, discount or coupon website and many more. These are the website that people usually looking for when they buy online. It has the ability to attract consumers looking for specific items. Website like these provide information about qualities, price and comparison to help consumers save more money. At the same time, you can make affiliate commission while helping them.

Step #3 – Select What Products or Services You Wish to Promote

Before you decide what product or services you want to recommend to your audience, you’ll need to have confident in it. Think of the product or services that you have no worries recommending to your audience. Make your audience as excited and passion about the product or services as you are.

Step 4 – Sign Up an Affiliate Program

Choose which affiliate program website you like to join and sign up an account. For example, ClickBank, JVZoo, CJ Affiliate, Amazon Associates, eBay Partner Network and many more. Each of these marketplace can direct you to the vendors which is suitable for your niche.

You’ll want to study how each one of the affiliate program works and consider the effect on your potential profits. For example, ClickBank allows you to make commission up to 75% of the product price while JVZoo offers commissions up to 100%. However, you may want to choose ClickBank as they are one of the biggest digital products marketplace.

They are other options where they pay you on a certain rate for every visitor that clicks on your banner ads that display somewhere on your website. For example, Google Adsense. You might want to consider to sign up Google Adsense as a publisher if you already have a successful website.

Step #5 – Select an Affiliate Program to Promote

You must know how to select an affiliate program to promote. I strongly recommend that you select affiliate program from ClickBank marketplace. The most important criteria are the commission you will receive from each sale. Focus on digital products that gives you 60% commission and above. Most digital products sell between $27 to $77 on ClickBank. You’ll be making at least $16 per sale. However, if you promote physical products, make sure you make at least $50 per sale. This is due to physical products are harder to sell than digital products.

The next criteria that is important for you to focus on is the product has high gravity, This means that many affiliates have made a sale in the past week.  This shows that the product has high demand. However, this will also mean that. the competition to sell the product is also very high. I would suggest you to focus at products that have average gravity. Please make sure that the product also have a high quality sales page. You’ll also need to compare them with other competitive products and monitor their conversions.

Step #6 – Create an Affiliate Link

You should receive an affiliate link once you have chosen an affiliate program to promote. It is important that you place the affiliate link on your website, blog or social media. I suggest adding the affiliate link to the name of the program, brand or something that represents it. Don’t just pasting the affiliate link everywhere, which your audience will know that this is an affiliate link. It also will look very unprofessional. Besides that, you can use link shortener by Google “https://goo.gl” when you promote the product. Your links will look more professional.

Step #7 – Drive Traffic to Your Affiliate Link

Now that your website is created, what you should do now is to promote your affiliate product as if they were your own. Recommend your affiliate products to your audience and when they click your affiliate link and purchase the product, you’ll get a commission.

You can also promote your affiliate products at forum or social groups that are relevant to your niche. This can improve your exposure and increase your chances to get more sales.

How Much Money Can You Make As An Affiliate Marketer?

Don’t be discouraged because around 6% of the respondents reported that they earn over $160,000 per month. You can do it too by just selling other people’s products, services and brand. That’s worth it right?

Therefore, how much money you can make as an affiliate marketer it’s all depends on your effort. Obviously, the more traffic you can drive to your website, the more money you can make.
